I once painted a piano avacado green. Confession is good for the soul I believe, and it WAS in a university residence. And I was very young.

Ew! As far as original wood finishes go, I'm a perfectionist and can't stand alteration to a quality piece like a Victor machine. I haven't had much luck either around my house, as it's the family home and there's about four different generations worth of furniture in here, unfortunately during the 60's-70's a few people got bored with the decor and decided to get "creative" with a lot of the old pieces, and to this day I'm scrapping yellow/brown/orange/etc. paint off of everything! So this one really hits home for me...

Colorwise I don't even know what to call that, it looks like some kind of chartreuse/mustard yellow on my monitor!

Whatever you call it, it is a color that was very commonly used to ruin good furniture during the '60s and '70s.
