I came across this late 1800's Victrola Cabinet that was without the workings. I restored it to it's present condition. My intention was to use it as a quilt chest hence the cedar. All original hardware was retained. Painted heirloom white with a durable finish (inside and out) over Solid Mahogany. Very solid piece and a one of a kind. Will take best offer.Thanks.

Anybody want to restore this one? It was made in the 1800's after all.

I love this thread! Knowing what something is also involves knowing what it is not. One looks at a painting of a large black dot on a white background. Is the painting about the dot or the space that surrounds it? If phonographs are the dot, this thread is about the space that surrounds it.

Currently on St. Louis Craigslist (sounds like it may be a Vanophone ;)):

"I have a very nice wind up record player. I have pictures of but not the name and numbers yet on the plate. You can open a little door and adjust the valuum, it is one of the best sounding I have ever heard. This one is $250.00. Heres a package that goes with it that is probably worth more than the player. Approx., 4 boxes of alblems such as RCA Victor-Johann Strauss, Le Beau Danube..London philharmonic Orchestra in the casing it came in and contains (3) double sided 78 alblims. Excuse the spelling, it tells all about the music and years they were made. There are also a good sellection all looking as good as they play. All this is firm. You are getting a real deal on this one folks. For pictures and a complete list of the names and composers just write me and I will get them out of my van for you. If you are a collector you will not only be amazed of the quality, but also the sound, and yes, it has the arm (made out of brass I believe) I have not seen it in about a year. Be the first, this one won't last people. Also a good talking piece to any collection."
