Thanks guys, I actually figured it out this morning that it goes
upside down. Didn't dawn on me I guess.

I attached a pic of the small wrench in case anyone is familiar
with it.

Looks like a square socket at the end? Looks like a winding key of some sort...to a long lost toy I'd say.

Yeah its a square socket. That's a good guess since its painted green. I will put it
on Ebay, maybe its an ultra rare key for a gold plated Kewpie doll and worth $500.

Great find 73'! The finish looks particularly nice without much alligatoring or other issues.

'73,a little FYI for you. I have always thought that the slot that is in the box running across the needle bar area was for the cabinet key.I thought that is where it would have been store when the machine was sent from the factory. I have never put my key in there but, it would work. However, it is just a guess.

The wrench/key looks like the winding key of my Bing Pigmyphone. Could be of any kind of old tin toy. Not sure about the size obviously. And mine is not green

Thanks Sonny! There is a little alligatoring but overall its in good
shape. No planter stains on the lid either for a change. It appears to
be the same cabinet and hardware as my previous standard door XVI although
in nickel plate. I just changed out the gaskets on the No 2 and the sound
is really nice and clear now. Next step is re-greasing the springs hopefully
in the next couple days. :)

I just tried putting the key in the slot and it only fits in one of the
slots. I then tried putting the No 2 in there and it does not seem to
have enough room to coexist with the key. I would imagine the key could
be on the side of the No 2 in a baggie perhaps. It would make sense to
have it in the same box for safe keeping.

If it did go to a Pigmyphone, too bad the rest of it is not there! I did my
usual search of the area under the motor board/cabinet and no other goodies
found. :squirrel:
