Ragtime Rastus

Post by ts_13 »

Hello All,

I was fortunate enough to pick this little guy up today. My question is: is the base complete? I have seen another accessory in pictures that looks like a rubber wheel that is on the spindle cap. Is this guy complete?

Thank you all in advance.

You are missing the wooden "drive" cap that goes on the spindle of the phonograph. It looks like a wooden donut with a pin through the center of the donut hole. It goes on the phonograph spindle first and then the dowel with a slot on the base fits into the donut and meshes with the pin to drive the mechanism in the "platform" base that Rastus dances on.

That is what I thought! Thank you very much Curt. Any good places to grab this part?

There is a guy in NC, who is on the forum that makes replicas of the whole toy. He might be able to help with that piece. I don't know his user name, but his name is Brian Parlier and his phone number is: (704) 644-8606

Hope that helps...

Sounds like Rastus will be able to dance again soon.
