Home Made Case with Victor Parts ???

Did someone build this, cabinet looks like pine or birch and can't be opened.
Not the correct escutcheon pins on the Victor plaque.
The horn doesn't look Victor.

It's what the seller states it is, Vic-0. It was a low-end model, lower than the Vic 1. The horn, I believe is correct, although it may have been originally painted yellow possibly with red highlights. This was the only Victor machine with a yellow horn. I had a wood analysis done on mine. It's birch.

This has been on the Boston area Craigslist for some time now. I am somewhat interested, but the incorrect or repainted horn is a turnoff.

How's one supposed to oil the motor, it must have no bottom on it ?
I would have though the cabinet was homemade with the crudely filled nail holes on the top, looks like a grade 8 wood working class project.

jboger is spot on correct. It's a Victor O with tons of potential. The horn is correct but probably originally a shade of yellow with burgundy accents. The motor is accessed by removing the screws on the underside of the cabinet. So remove turntable. Next remove the screws that go up through the base into the sides of the cabinet. Once the four screws are removed, lift the cabinet up and off revealing the motor.

According to the Victor Data Book, the one piece tonearm was replaced with the goose-neck tonearm starting with the "Vic. 0 Type E" model in Feb. 1911.

Thats a later Vic O as identified by the aluminum data plate, drop in elbow and later style tonearm. The motor is later too as indicated by the "victrola" crank. All original as far as I can tell.
