Columbia Concert Frankenstein

Post by BusyBeeCylinder »

Came across this little home brew machine and thought I’d share. Started life as a Columbia eagle that was ‘converted’ to play concert cylinders.

Some items to note:
Additional external mainspring
Different governor weights and brake
Pillar cut out to accommodate the larger governor weights
Wood mandrel covered In fabric
Enlarged belt pulleys

Comments welcome!

Fascinating!

I love the ingenuity our predecessors used to make something happen... Where there's a will, there's a way

George-- Do you have one of these in your Eagle collection?? :)

A true piece of history, and a witness of the careful work of enthusiastic fine people with poor means and a great will to work. If I had it, it would be a keeper!
