Great info...ty. They sure seemed/felt leathery...JohnM wrote: Sun Feb 20, 2022 4:10 am Quarter-dawn oak reveals ‘figure’ in the wood, not “striping” or “flaking”, although the wood has stripes, which is a characteristic. ‘Flake’ is squarish patches of a lighter color that interrupts the stripes.
L-Shaped, the albums aren’t leather. Typically, L-door Victrola albums are fabric covered. Some later albums use a pressed and coated paper that gives the appearance of leather.

Original signs are of course much harder to come by being that there we’re not a huge quantity to begin with. Many of us have chosen to recreate the “His Master’s Voice” painting in 3D. A Victor Royal of similar works in a pinch. Any original Nipper is a fun decoration to add to a collection all by itself. My original 14” Nipper will get replaced by my 18” glass eyed Nipper when he is finished. Best of luck finding the original signs. The hunt is half the fun.LShaped wrote: Sun Feb 20, 2022 9:23 pmThanks for the reply... i'm more into the original older signs like these: Thanks Tho.20220220_211748.jpg20220220_211802.jpg20220220_211754.jpgDjango wrote: Sat Feb 19, 2022 7:31 pm Very nice L-Door.
Regarding your inquiry, there are lots of options. Anything from the period, phonograph related or music related should do. My favorite is to just put machines or other antiques or musical instruments above, below and around my machines.
There are high quality canvas banners available on eBay. Nice, framed phonograph ads can be nice. Sheet music can look nice as well. The Nipper here is just a downloaded and printed copy that I matted and framed, (about $25.00 total cost).
A Nipper or two is a necessity.
