Considering making an offer on this Victrola 16 if its walnut. Does this look like walnut? Inside looks walnut, outside looks mahogany but hard to tell

I saw that listing. I think that it is American Walnut. Good luck.

Looks like sapele veneer on front and solid mahogany on lid. It's rather red for walnut, but it could be the camera.

I think it's mahogany but I'd be delighted being wrong! :D

Jon,

I think it's a faded old finish, the woodgrains appear mahogany on the exterior ( very linear). The exterior will tell the whole story. I've seen some more wild graining in mahoagany like that interior photo shows, but it's just a fluke time to time. The color is another give a way. I'm a wood guy just giving my opinion.

My vote is dirty faded mahogany, but I could be wrong. Other more expert collectors have weighed in. I like restoration projects, so I tend to say "buy it and save it!"
Good Luck,
Matt
