Considering making an offer on this Victrola 16 if its walnut. Does this look like walnut? Inside looks walnut, outside looks mahogany but hard to tell

Looks like sapele veneer on front and solid mahogany on lid. It's rather red for walnut, but it could be the camera.

I think it's a faded old finish, the woodgrains appear mahogany on the exterior ( very linear). The exterior will tell the whole story. I've seen some more wild graining in mahoagany like that interior photo shows, but it's just a fluke time to time. The color is another give a way. I'm a wood guy just giving my opinion.

My vote is dirty faded mahogany, but I could be wrong. Other more expert collectors have weighed in. I like restoration projects, so I tend to say "buy it and save it!"
