Best way to play brown wax cylinders

Hi everyone - just bought some brown wax cylinders. Before they arrive I want to make sure I don’t damage them. I’ve got an original automatic reproducer - is this the best way to play them? I’ve got others as well, but recall that an automatic might be best. My most reliable machines are a Standard and a pre-1900 Edison Home Suitcase. Advice appreciated and thank you!

Personally-- I would use a well rebuilt Model "B" reproducer if playing them on an Edison machine.

An automatic with a good rebuild and adjust is probably the safest bet without getting heavier. The Model B does play louder for sure, but at the sacrifice of possible record wear because the weight is significantly heavier. Personally I like the aluminum floating reproducer in a Graphophone Eagle….. different and simpler concept in playback tech

This thread is great because the impossible actually happened today…I FINALLY found a brown wax record! but I think it might be an original blank too…
