EDIT: and it really works. No more being bumped to the phono ring

I originally had my Firefox configured to block redirects, but the problem I found is that it also prevents you from being able to complete some processes/actions that DO require a redirect, (e.g., some of my banking activities).Brad wrote:I use firefox and have it configured to block redirects. I agree with Jim, dump the ring, Regulars know were we are and newbies and find us via Google.
The problem with blocking redirects is that it blocks legitimate redirects as Tink mentioned. This forum has valid redirects that get blocked every time you log in, and also when you do some navigating around in the forum. Not all the redirects are to the web ring. So blocking simply increases the number of mouse clicks. I've not seen the web ring redirects in a few weeks. Besides the blocking notice doesn't tell you what it's blocking, good or bad. Somewhat useless.Brad wrote:Hi Tink,
I am not aware of any customization. When FF blocks, there will be a status bar that appears at the top of the screen. You only need to click "Allow" to allow (clever huh),
I find getting hijacked much more irksome than having to do an extra click, so it is a reasonable compromise for me.
Back to Brian's original post: Let's drop the webring from the board.
