Hi All!
Time to seriously tap into your experience and expertise.
My double spring Schubert Edisonic has not given me any serious problems these past ten years, though when I cranked it up fully to play Edison Long Play discs it often made random clunking sounds (which I blamed on old grease clumps). Well, today (when I tried the same) it went a step further and now it makes a different sort of sound at much more frequent and even intervals (about once a minute). My guess is that one of the springs has broken or popped off its anchor point while the other one remains functional (as the turntable still spins).
Does this sound familiar to any of you? Am I right in my guess? if so, I've got an expensive repair ahead I'm sure (IF I can find someone to do it); or just buy a replacement Edison double motor (recently regreased this time)--a chunk of change as well. I wouldn't dream of messing with this repair myself.
Any advice/comments/similar experiences?
Mindy P.
P.S. Nice thing about the double spring is you can get through a standard disc with very little loss of speed--and of course it's even more needed with long play discs. I'll see what any of you have to say and then plot my next steps.

Diamond Disc springs are not for those “faint of heart”.

Maybe you could just bring him the spring barrels. But either way you’re going to have to deal with a lot of “heavy metal” Diamond Disc mechanism.

I was thinking that Ron would probably be my best option. I bought the Schubert from him back in October 2013 and bought a Chalet from him a few weeks age. All roads eventually lead to Plano when you're in this hobby.Damfino59 wrote: Tue Oct 10, 2023 11:13 pm Diamond Disc springs are not for those “faint of heart”.
