Go for it, Garret. It is the very best table model produced by HMV and the teak cabinets are really excellent. Similar to Carlos, I really love the pull down flap which reveals the colonial veranda style fret work. Unlike the 130/150 Table Grands these were produced solely in India and likely in very small numbers although the survival rate is unsurprisingly high given the build quality.

Why have it shipped when I can go pick it up?

Exactly, and with extortionate courier prices here in the UK, it'll probably be cheaper to collect it anyway, that is unless you arrange a French courier to collect it?

The gramophone is in Edinburgh, a long way from the Channel ports.

This is true, but I'm very aware of some continental collectors, including some members of this forum, who would think nothing of driving up to 8 hours in one country before leaving the following day for a 2 day drive across two others. I admire that steely determination and enthusiasm but I'm not sure I could do it even if I wanted to.

Of course. As a former State Department Civil Servant I have some familiarity with world geography.
