Offbrand Phonograph making loud noise

Nothing really jumps out there. Are all the gear teeth on good condition? No burrs on any teeth, or mashed over teeth due to past rough handling? How about the teeth on the fiber worm wheel that drives the governor? Those are often chewed up.

None that I can remember seeing, but I'll see further once I return home.

Try putting a few drops of oil on the pad. Also, possibly a little more grease on the governor's worm gear. Maybe a drop of oil on the turntable spindle.

Some motors, especially those installed in the "off brand" models weren't the quietest in the world. I noticed that the motor, itself, seems flush with the motorboard --

You might try installing some felt isolaters or gaskets -- about ¼ - ⅓ inch thick -- between the motor board and the motor, itself to minimize the noise transfer to the cabinet. Very soft rubber gaskets would probably also work.

I added the grease and oil in the places you said, and also took off some brittle old rubber washers that weren't doing anything. I don't have any of the felt spacers on me currently but I will be able to get them tomorrow.

In the videos I cannot see anything terribly noisy... There are machines here among us that sound like a gasoline motorboat when compared with yours...

It must just be my microphone, the first one is decently noisy but the second one is extremely loud.

Sounds as dry and spoiled gears to me... Is the noise the same under load? I mean, when there's a record and the needle dragging? Also I agree with the fact that it sounds as if the Tt and cabinet are amplifying the motor noise abnormally, and there's a strong need of damping washers between motor and table, that must be absent or totally dry and hard as rock.

Yes, sounds like gear or bearing noise. Worn motor components.

If it's noisy with the turntable on and quieter when it's off, that suggests the issue has to do with the motor being under load. Maybe a bad spindle bearing? Just a guess, but it seems possible. If the turntable happens to be out of balance, that would exaccerbate such issues.

Hi ! I can see the governor's spring leaves bent downwards under the burden of weights. I am sure they must be contributing to the noise as well. Please ensure that all screws on the governor are tight.
