an announcement on a blue amberol cylinder?

My copy of Edison 28140, Florencio Constantino singing Niun mi tema (the Death of Otello) from Verdi's opera Otello, is announced. It has a flat end. No dots, but a little "3" after "pat'd"--that means take 3, right? This one is in a "Grand Opera" Blue Amberol box with matching lid. A one-post thread on the forums is here viewtopic.php?p=89188 and indicates it was released in Feb. 1913. The linked YouTube video has that cylinder also announced but with a beveled end. The UCSB cylinder archive https://cylinders.library.ucsb.edu/deta ... 0150203776 also shows the release date as 1913 and include a similarly announced transfer, but no info about whether the end is beveled or flat.

All of Constantino's cylinders are announced - by him.

I would be very surprised if there were truly no dots after "Pat'd". For example, if it says "Pat'd.", that's one dot. The dots indicate the "take" number. The numeral 3 means it's from mold number 3. This was used for quality control.

As I understand it, Constantino demanded in his contract that he would announce all his cylinders. This is long after Edison had abandoned the practice.
FWIW, my version of Morte di Otello is take 1, mould no.2 and is flat ended.
