Columbia AK disc graphophone- help

Post by DanP58 »

Good Evening all,
I bought a Columbia AK disc graphophone parts/project machine at the Wayne show today . I have the cabinet , turntable, stop / speed control , complete motor and traveling arm ( might be a reproduction ) all are in good shape , need a good cleaning . I m looking for a crank , front mount horn support , horn and reproducer, looking for parts or a source for parts The gentleman I bought it from might be able to help with some parts I’m going to check with him also.
Thanks
Dan

Dan,

I believe there were different versions of the AK. Posting pictures of what you've got might be helpful.

Good morning, I think it is the first version , by what I read/ saw in the Columbia companion book , I can see where the green dye drippings on inside case, the only #’s I see are on the under side of top plate “AK. 3503. 6”

It would be best to post this in the "Yankee Trader" section.

The travelling arms for these are usually wood but I have seen cast aluminum ones. If you are okay with a reproduction, Justin Shaub or JAS Antiques may have one in stock. They are high quality replicas. He may have other parts you need.

‘Graphophone’ is a proper noun and should be capitalized.
