Re: Edison Cygnet Horn
I know I'm being lazy in asking this, versus researching it, but I'll ask anyway, did Edison refer these horns as "Cygnet" horns, or is that part of collector vernacular?phonogfp wrote: Tue Apr 08, 2025 6:59 am “On This Day in the History of Recorded Sound…”

They were called "Cygnet Horns" in Edison catalogs and throughout period Edison literature. You can't go wrong with this label!

Re: Edison Cygnet Horn
I find it interesting that the design patent is different from what was actually produced.

Re: Edison Cygnet Horn
Just to clarify, this is a Utility Patent rather than a Design Patent. It was (is?) common to have the production item differ slightly from the Utility Patent drawings. Here are just a few examples:

Thank you for clarifying the difference. I still think the end product is more attractive.

Re: Edison Cygnet Horn
I'm with you, Dave! The patent drawings depict a rather awkward looking horn. The production Cygnet has a certain elegance.Dave D wrote: Wed Apr 09, 2025 8:16 pm Thank you for clarifying the difference. I still think the end product is more attractive.
