Did you check the 11/32" dimension?

Not my area of expertise, but:

What's the overall length of the spindle shaft in the OP's machine, compared to the other shown?
Also, the taper on the spindle end seems to differ between the two: could that be a sign of repair?

Sorry for the delay, this is my busy season ( we conduct estate sales and auctions). The spindle measures 7/16”
