Is there a plan to get it here, from Japan?

Besides, as in the photo above, there is a separate compartment inside, where the drawer was on the earliest models.

Please don't ship it... hand carry on the plane.

Curt's reason for stating this is because the flat plate that the phonograph upper works, and also the very heavy motor, is mounted to, is very prone to breakage in shipment. It's made of cast iron and is brittle.

There are some VERY nice Edison Concert cylinders for sale on eBay right now. They’re not cheap, bidding starts at 150$, but they are very nice. Always really risky to ship. I’ve bought Concert cylinders that sadly arrive in pieces.

This thread made me check the Vulcan site. I’ve got their Stars and Stripes Concert cylinder, which is great. They’re usually sold out but when I checked last night that did have a few of their Concert cylinders for sale. I went ahead and bought another one, and with shipping it was about 161$.

Okay!! I'll ask my aunt to bring it with her in her bag. Her flight back is in May.
I'm learning that shipping a lot of these things is not the best idea.

Yes. I've had my fair share of items breaking during shipping. Followed by trying to calm myself before sending a message to the seller, who assured my Phonograph was professionally packed. ;)

Carry on bag only - not checked luggage (it gets carelessly thrown around)...

I brought pottery home from France, well packed in checked luggage and most arrived broken...

There is no way you can fit an Edison Concert Phonograph in a carry on travel case. They are a beast of a machine and even without the lid weight almost 60 lbs or 27 KG. Which is double the allowable carry in weight.
