Do the parts swap over well enough? I wonder how this is going? I also can't imagine you paid that price, CDN or otherwise. Were you able to talk reason to them? ;)

At today's exchange rate, I paid the equivalent of $43.54429 US. I got two needle tins and a green and white cardboard box of Victor soft tone needles with it. I could not go see it. It was a 4 hour drive away. I arranged for someone to pick it up for me.

Sadly the reproducer which looked great in the photos is badly damaged. It had been bounced around on the end of the broken tone arm for so long that whatever the reproducer is potted in has shattered. Things are loose--the exterior housing and the black back panel insert are loose of each other. The needle bar is out of alignment because the bearings seem to have collapsed. It still passes a thumb sound test--lightly rub thumb over the end of the needle bar and get a good sound. It still passes the blow test--blow into the throat of the reproducer and no air leaks. But it is not usable.

I think the parts are pretty much an exact match, at least as far as the tone arm assembly goes.

Slowly. Our (my wife's and my) world has been totally overturned by the need to care for my younger brother who is going through chemo. Nothing can be planned. Things have to given up at short notice.

I'm so sorry to read of your family health struggles. These hobbies of ours become minor trivialities in the face of these issues. May your brother find peace and healing.
