I'm pleased you have found yourself the Mark IX, Sean, it is a great little machine and as I said you can always 'upgrade' the horn on it later if you find a bigger horn or can convince someone to supply you a fibreglass modern example! You simply won't believe how much better it'll sound with the giant horn plugged into it. It does become a different beast.

Although it's not popular to say this but apart from the fact that ANY large(r) EMG horn should fit it, the internal conduit (albeit different profile) is the same length and exponential design as its bigger cousin, the Mark X. As the tone-arms are also IDENTICAL, the difference in sound quality between the Mark IX fitted with a 4-spring soundbox and Mark X(a/b) horn and the Mark Xb itself is..........well, minimal. To my ears, near enough the SAME!
