Many thanks for posting that. As you note, it does clear up the mystery. I'm glad that this was beyond the range of my (current) finances, 'cause if I was the one who got it, I'd be wanting the lid, now, too.
Is this the correct motor?

oh yes! Couldn't agree more O-F!
Cant Stop Drooling.
(I thought only the spring versions were in the rounded cases and the electric ones were in rectangular cases as in the record cover I posted a few messages above?) I Still WANT it!
Glad you got it Shane. Look forward to a video of it!

The rectangular machine on the cover you posted is the HMV 119. As far as I know, it was only available with an electric motor.recordo wrote: (I thought only the spring versions were in the rounded cases and the electric ones were in rectangular cases as in the record cover I posted a few messages above?)
There was actually a 119 on ebay a month or so ago. If I remember correctly, it sold for under $100, & it appeared to be in great condition too. They use the same running gear as the 122, but they dont seem to attract a lot of interest- I suppose because they are minus the cute factor.
Here's another record sleeve that shows the electric 122.
And this sleeve shows yet another model, but I dont know what model designation this one had. It looks pretty much the same as the 119, but is covered in rexine.
It's interesting that this cover also states 2 models were available. I dont know if that means this particular model could have either motor, or if this model perhaps replaced the 119 & the 122 spring model was still around??

Re: Is this the correct motor?
I finally got around to doing a video of my little 122 playing. The sound quality isn't brilliant because the record is a little worn & I'm using a cheap reproduction Thomas transistor radio as the amp, but it gives a general idea of how it sounds.

Shane,
It's brilliant. I saw it a few days ago when you posted it. (I'm "hammondmania" on YouTube. ). Congratulations. Now my search begins.
Regards, Glenn.

Thanks Glenn. It's one of my favorite players these days. Good luck in finding one for your own collection.
