I'm glad that worked out in the end. It certainly looks like a lovely machine.

My one experience with "professional" packing at the UPS store was an Opera shipped to me. They did double-box it, with the horn in one and the machine in another. They used yards of bubble-wrap and a ton of styrofoam peanuts. But for the machine, they put no padding of any sort inside the motor compartment or bedplate. The reproducer was left in place, and the moving mandrel was not tied down in any way. They simply wrapped up the machine with bubble-wrap, tilted it onto its left side and dropped it into the box.

I guess it was fortunate is was shipped left side down rather than upright, or right side down. The mandrel could bounce up and down in transit but most of the time it sat in place.

I considered it a miracle that nothing was damaged. The outer packing ensured that the cabinet would survive, but when I think of what could have happened to the motor, bedplate, and top works as it traveled across the country, with absolutely nothing to restrain the mechanical parts.....

Oh -- and the crank and extra L reproducer (super-minty) were tossed together into a padded Fedex envelope, with nothing to separate them. Again, a miracle the reproducer came through unscratched and intact.
