Hi Bruce,

Re: Finished at last. I Triumphed!!!!!
The glue joints for the corners, on triumphs are not very good, in fact I am not sure they used glue, the rabbit joints all slide together, and then the screws through the bottom hold the cabinet in it's box shape. The Triumph I use for recording, the cabinet was exactly the same, a pile of wood! The bedplate frame had lots of damage too. It is just best to remove the 4 corner screws and ship the cabinet separate of the motor, and then there is no problem usually. I had some custom crates made that are wood, and have foam padding 4" thick on all side. There are times I have to ship the triumph out, and these crates, the top screws on, and there is one for the cabinet and one for the works.

Re: Finished at last. I Triumphed!!!!!
My Triumph had glue on the corners because I had to get the old glue off to make a nice fit when I put it together. The seller had put the top workings on the cabinet when they sent it and the top fell though and the cabinet fell apart.
The bed plate frame was in bits too, it was a majer job sorting it out.
If the seller was a honest colletor or dealer they would have done what you do when sending a phonograph, but on Ebay you have to take your chances.
I didn't complain to the seller because I think I still got a good deal at £240?
Gordon.

Tip of the day.......
Always have the seller ship the mechanisms of anything larger than a Edison Standard separate from the case if you don't want the case to be in pieces when it shows up. Offer to pay extra for the freight if the seller is reluctant to do so. Mechanisms of anything larger than an Edison Home should be double boxed with at least 3 inches of space between the boxes.
