Wow! I've never seen that engine before. I do remember that he was working on the restoration of the passenger car the last time I was there; 2001 I think.

Yes, the steam engine, tender, and cars are normally all in the Carousel House, which will give an idea of the size of the room. Part of the train was moved out temporarily to make some extra room so that they could get about 400 of us in there for dinner.phonojim wrote:Wow! I've never seen that engine before. Re: Pictures of Sanfilippo's Estate
It's... it's... it's (SUPERMAN)I don't know what it is! Over the top! A message in there maybe? Thanks so much for the great reportage! Maybe our beloved machines somehow are more alive than we think? Has anyone noticed that a gramophone seems to sound better the more you play it? The same thing goes for musical instruments I know. No owner of a Stradivarius would dream of leaving it in a safe unplayed for any important stretch of time - they wither away and loose qualities... they NEED to be loved...
This collection definitely makes one think in all directions! Thanks again!!!

The definitely run better when you play them frequently. If you wind one up that has not been played for even a couple months, there always seems to be at least a minor problem.snallast wrote:It's... it's... it's (SUPERMAN)I don't know what it is! Regarding Jasper Sanfilippo, what a generous, trusting person. He routinely allows collectors he does not even know in many cases to wander his beautiful house and grounds freely, allowing us to see many things most would never have a chance to see elsewhere.

And he has set up a foundation to care for everything, so hopefully it will all be around for future generations.

Re: Pictures of Sanfilippo's Estate
I wonder if Sanfilippo would let me live there; I don't need to eat much and could sleep on the floor!
