Re: Anyone know the maker of this Cylinder Cabinet
Here is another one I just got. It is big and heavy. It will be a nice project. Did not come with any hardware and missing one drawer. Lucky to have the draw front. Anyone know who made this one and what kind of hardware it had?

Thanks, I used amber shellac on it for a finish. Never used it before. Came out shinier than I thought it would. I tried to dull it down some with 0000 wool and wax.

The six-drawer cabinet is a Herzog No.717. You're in luck because the original knobs are plain brass, about 1" diameter with a slightly convex face. There's a photo of one of these cabinets on page 109 (Fig. 4-22) in Antique Phonograph Gadgets' Gizmos, and Gimmicks.

I love the curved drawers. It reminds me of this cabinet:

Re: Anyone know the maker of this Cylinder Cabinet
The six-drawer Herzog No.717 cabinet I am restoring has holes with a circular scratch mark above each drawer groove. On another forum I found a picture of the same holes and they said it was for a metal catch for the shelf or the drawer. Anyone have a picture of it with dimensions, a tracing or a spare one so that I can copy it? I need to make 12 of them. I copied the pic from the other site.
Thanks, Bob
