I have started cleaning the cabinet and hardware. I have never seen a machine in this degree of original condition. There is absolutely no pitting on any of the chrome. I have done some light cleaning so far the cabinet seems to have an almost perfect original finish.

Unfortunately I can't keep this thing - I'm at my (wife's) limit of 3. :(

Really nice!

The little Audiodisc off to the side is an odd duck, though. Someone stuck that in years later.

Auction Find - The Machine that came with the cool stuff

Here are some pics of the VV XI that I purchased to obtain records and ephemera inside it. I am slowly cleaning it to its original finish. I've spent parts of 2 days on it. I've done nothing but cleaned it. It won't need anything else. Jim

Very nice... it looks almost new. It must have been a treasured item for all the owners since it was new. Jerry

And an oak case in great condition in addition to all the goodies inside. What more could you want out of an XI?

Maybe some collectors don't usually get excited by a Victrola XI (and maybe I'm one of them), but had I found an oak one with such nice grain, in such nice condition, and with all the goodies - I'd have bought it too! :)

Nice find. They don't often come down to us in such nice condition.

All I can say is "WOW!" Looks like this machine never wandered very far from its birthplace. Is that the original turntable felt? I assume you have the horn doors off for cleaning. I thought my mahogany XI-G was in good condition, but your oak job has it beat by far!

I agree with George. Some of my favorite machines are considered common but just look so nice (great oak grain) that I would hate to give them up. Congratulations on a great find. I would have bought it too.

Good oak grain often lifts a machine like this above the commonplace.
