you can see that gold and brown (bronze?) paint was applied to emulate the appearance of branches & flowers (cherry blossoms?) in the style of Japanese filigree. Since these were hand painted by Japanese craftsmen, according to Victor literature, the artwork differed from cabinet to cabinet.

I'd love to see a photo of the Japanned finish Victrola in color. All I've found, online, is this b&w image from an old CAPs newsletter:

Hi Vic78:

Many thanks for posting the photos! It's absolutely stunning. While this style may not be to everyone's taste, I think everyone can appreciate the craftsmanship and skill involved in creating what amounted to a unique work of art.

They're gorgeous machines, albeit a bit "gaudy". I'll never part with mine, it's just too cool.

Yeah, I'd love to see it as well :D

These have always amazed me and wouldnt mind owning one some day, or one of the Brunswick's of the same type.
