I didn't know crossing the Channel was so hard.
The gramophone is in Edinburgh, a long way from the Channel ports.
This is true, but I'm very aware of some continental collectors, including some members of this forum, who would think nothing of driving up to 8 hours in one country before leaving the following day for a 2 day drive across two others. I admire that steely determination and enthusiasm but I'm not sure I could do it even if I wanted to.
It's a matter of determination and enthusiasm. And perspective.

Exactly, and with extortionate courier prices here in the UK, it'll probably be cheaper to collect it anyway, that is unless you arrange a French courier to collect it?
Don't forget the customs shakedown on the arrival of every parcel.

Yes, and in my experience, the French port authorities appear to shove anything from the UK to the back of the queue, that's if they deliver it at all!

I actually had a letter delivered from a mailbox in London to my box here in Lille a couple weeks ago in 36 hours. Tops. It's just when the douanes smell shakedown money in the parcels that things slow down real quick...

There are additional photos on the website. The first photo definitely shows the good side!

Logically.... This is the face which goes downwards on the floor,!
Anyway, doesn't seem difficult to repair...

Well, behold, it made all of £100 exactly as I predicted! (thank you, thank you! )

Someone got an absolute steal here. Yes, it had some scratches but nothing that couldn't be tidied up and the condition of the finish is very much part of its history where colonial machines are concerned. Phew! I need to go and lie down in a dark room now.
