Lakeside Rotometer Question

Post by gramophone78 »

Can anyone tell me if they have or have seen a Lakeside Rotometer with a red painted pointer...??.
I'm not sure if the red is a later addition or original. Appreciate any info.

I know Cliff did a video of one awhile back, and his didn't have the red pointer.

I hope he doesn't mind me sharing his video.

Actually, the link is...

However, that Rotometer is different than mine and the pointer has a flat end.

Pardon my link messing up, but sorry it couldn't be more helpful. I think it's the only YouTube video of one which at least can show a similar design.

Hey, don't be sorry....it's great to see another variation of mine.. ;). Thanks for mentioning it. The question now is...which one is earlier..??. Cliff's has "Pat Pending" and mine has no patent information. My money is on Cliff's. However, I could be wrong.. :).

Yours definitely looks more jazzed up than mine, likely a later version. I think these are about the coolest of any phonograph accessory. Glad to know they at least made them long enough to have varieties. Thanks for sharing! Cliff

P.S. - My guess is that the red paint is original.

Is there any trace of markings on the "indicator" piece opposite the pointer?

It seems as if that would be a good place for a scale to match different speeds.

Bill, there is no sign of a scale. I would have thought so too....just like the Phonometer (see attached).

Cliff, I'm just glad you made a YouTube video in order for me to compare... ;).
